Every comment that invoked a 'law' (50 word-boundary sites across 28
tracked files) now states what is going on and why, in terms that
transfer to any project: gate twins drift until one side greenlights
what the other refuses; a tag re-points while a digest pins; a
restrictive engine behavior belongs to the runtime that imposed it and
must be re-tested, not inherited; a speculative head is tensors in the
file, not a flag; snapshot links dangle where the container resolves
them; exit 0 is a clean stop to systemd, so a self-exiting daemon on
on-failure goes dark reporting success. Event narratives and dates are
gone from these comments; the mechanics carry the argument.
Behavior-identical: bash -n, py_compile, yaml parse, full bats suite
408/408 green. One symbol rename rides along (stack script local
scale_law -> scale_contract, with its log text).
frank-zealot shipped Restart=on-failure while its two siblings shipped
always. exit 0 is a CLEAN stop to systemd: on-failure leaves the endpoint
dark and the unit GREEN until the next boot — and frank-zealot is the
compaction hub for all three endpoints, so its quiet death degrades every
conversation in the fleet.
tests/llm_units.bats gains the fleet parity seam (Restart=always,
RestartSec 1..20, WantedBy=multi-user.target across scripts/frank-*.service);
the per-unit seams drop their weaker Restart greps so the policy lives in
one place. Runbook unit line updated.
The 2026-10-09 wire aliases become the service names everywhere:
systemd units, serve scripts, env files and FRANK_* variables,
deploy-plan/deploy-remote service keys, container names, Prometheus
job names + alert rules, Grafana dashboard queries, bats seams,
runbook filenames, homepage/AGENTS lore, and historical prose.
Rollback tags renamed in lockstep. Residue in the tree: zero.
Retired frank-medium/small/npu names are history and stay.
Known casualty: scripts/patches/*.patch context lines were rewritten;
those retired-era vLLM-fork patches no longer apply byte-exact.
